Privacy information for Salvationist Radio listeners.

Salvationist Radio is an online radio station owned and managed by The Salvation Army. You can listen to it via salvationist.org.uk/radio and control privacy settings by clicking on the Cookie Preferences link at the foot of every web page.

To manage and broadcast a schedule of music and pre-recorded content, we use Radio.co, which also enables listeners to tune-in to the station via a radio player, iOS and Android apps and smart speakers (such as Amazon Alexa and Google devices). We’ve included more information on how Radio.co uses listener data below.

We also use a podcast publisher, called Transistor, who distributes on our behalf to apps and platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

The Salvation Army does not have a direct relationship with any radio player, app or platform provider. Both Radio.co and Transistor provide us with anonymised analytical data related to station listeners, including information related to geographic location (IP addresses). We cannot use this data to identify any individuals and retain it only for as long as it is needed for the purposes of analysis and reporting to music licensing bodies.

Listeners can control their privacy settings with individual apps and platforms.

Radio.co

Radio.co has provided the following information about how it uses listener data:

Once Radio.co receives your IP address it is immediately anonymised, deleted and becomes untraceable. This data is never sold on or passed to other companies.

iOS app

The Salvationist Radio iOS app does not collect any user data when installed or launched on your device.

Android app

The Salvationist Radio Android app does not collect any user data during use. In order to provide audio control during phone app use, the app will monitor the 'state' of the phone app (idle, in call, call ended) if applicable on your device. At no point will the app be able to listen in or derive phone numbers or data.

The Android app also requires access to local storage. This is to store its configuration for faster launch times.

Broadcasting listener requests and contributions

We may invite listeners to contact us to share prayer or song requests and other contributions.

If you contact us, we will only use your personal data to verify your contribution for the purposes of the programme, and should we need to get in touch with you. The personal data will be your name and contact details, such as email address or social media account name (depending on how you contact us) and any personal data you choose to give us within the content of your contribution. We cannot promise to use every contribution that we receive.

If we broadcast your contribution, the programme may be available online and on demand, and your contribution may be used again in a future broadcast.

If you wish to make an anonymous contribution, please make this clear when you contact us.
