The theme is Love God, Love Others. This is our territorial intention that underpins, inspires and motivates everything we do here in the United Kingdom and Ireland Territory.

This posture is based on Jesus’ greatest commandment in Matthew 22:37–39 to ‘love the Lord your God’ and ‘love your neighbour as yourself’.

Let’s pray that as we gather online and in person that we will see how this approach to life impacts us as individuals and together as The Salvation Army.

Here’s a reminder of the schedule for today:

  • 2pm: Birmingham Citadel will be open for prayer throughout the afternoon.
  • 5pm: Territorial leaders Commissioners Anthony and Gillian Cotterill will be taking part in a prayer walk from Birmingham Citadel to Centenary Square, the site of the ICC, which is the main venue for the weekend.
  • 8pm: Together in Concert at The Rep Theatre, featuring the ISB, ISS and Charlie Green.

For now, I’ll leave you with words from the event guide by Commissioners Anthony and Gillian Cotterill:

‘Together 2022 is about us… It is about all of us individually being together with Jesus who, we have no doubt, desires to draw us all closer to himself, empowering every one of us.

‘He does this by the Holy Spirit in order that we might live our lives loving God and loving others. When this happens, history is made! Now that is exciting! We trust you are up for this!’
