The Big Connection

Each year, Salvationists and friends of The Salvation Army unite to raise essential funds for for the Big Connection (formerly known as the Big Collection) to support individuals in our local communities who are struggling.

Our initiatives include:

Supporting those experiencing homelessness
Supporting those facing drug and alcohol addiction
Providing debt advice
Providing specialised support for adult survivors of modern slavery
Creating opportunities for children and young people
Offering care and companionship to older people
Helping people find sustainable work opportunities through Employment Plus

The appeal runs throughout the year so you can fundraise at times that best suit you!

If you would like to try door-to-door fundraising, special permits for representatives of The Salvation Army are already in place for specific times of the year.

There are lots of ways to fundraise. You might consider scheduling a series of fundraising events throughout the year.

Many corps arrange collecting days on high streets and supermarkets, while individuals and groups organise social events, coffee mornings and bake sales or take part in sporting events and challenges. Gather a group in your corps who are keen to fundraise together.

You might choose to:

Challenge yourself or get some friends together to run, skydive or cycle
Organise a Team Sally Army Big Tea Party
Ask friends and family to donate to the Big Connection instead of giving a birthday gift
