Territorial Justice and Reconciliation Youth Forum

Empowering young people connected to The Salvation Army to improve the future by disturbing the present.

The Chief Secretary’s Office, together with the Children & Youth Department, is starting the Territorial Justice and Reconciliation Youth Forum to provide a space for a diverse group to explore justice issues that matter to them.

The forum will offer opportunities, training and resources to help young people to:

Bring justice issues to the attention of Salvation Army leadership
Propose strategies for tackling justice issues
Participate in local, regional and national justice and reconciliation initiatives
Develop their understanding of seeking justice and reconciliation as key practices of disciples of Jesus and people connected to The Salvation Army

2026–27 cohort

If you are 14–25 years old and are passionate about justice, complete the online application form by 4pm on Friday 27 February. Applications submitted beyond this date will be considered for future years.

FAQs

Applications to the territorial justice and reconciliation youth forum are open to 14–25-year-olds who are:

Passionate about social justice and reconciliation
Part of a local Salvation Army expression within the UK and Ireland Territory
Endorsed by their corps leaders and divisional representatives

A panel will review all applications and select 12–15 members to form a diverse group. Members will be appointed for a minimum of 12 months.

Members of the Territorial Youth Justice and Reconciliation Forum will have a unique platform to make change through action.

At an ecumenical walk of pilgrimage in April 2023, the then Territorial Commander Commissioner Anthony Cotterill prayed outside the Houses of Parliament that God would 'continue to raise up a generation of leaders in this and other nations with the courage to take responsibility for our rapidly changing climate and the part we have played in it.'

We believe God is raising up young people connected to The Salvation Army to improve the future by disturbing the present – we know that many young people are already involved with tackling justice issues in fresh and compelling ways, and that hearing from these young people is vital for the territory.

Our vision is that this forum will enable young leaders to come together, speak up, take action, make change and enable more people, young and old, to participate in seeking justice and reconciliation through The Salvation Army.

Successful applicants will need to:
