Candidates Sunday 2026 Resources

Called to be …

Through Peter’s story we see a person whose passionate character is developed through different circumstances. From his calling as a follower to his call to others to follow, we see Peter’s response to Jesus. In this lead up to Candidates Sunday, let’s consider who we are called to be through Peter’s story and the lives of others. You may choose to follow along with the series or just use the Week Five Candidates Sunday material.

Resources available:

  • Intergenerational prayer and worship ideas for gathered worship
  • Five sermon starters
  • Five video clips of people across the UK sharing their story (available in accordions further down the page)
  • PowerPoint templates

Video transcripts coming soon.

Giving to the Candidates and Cadets Training Fund

Traditionally corps have been asked to do a retiring offering for the 'Candidates and Cadets Training Fund'. However, we would like to give you an exciting opportunity! Someone once said that, 'if you get discipleship right, everything else will follow, including an increase in spiritual leaders within The Salvation Army.' We want to suggest that for this years offering, it is split 50/50 - with 50% going to the traditional fund, and the other 50% being used for a specific local discipleship initiative. By doing this we pray people will be resourced and equipped to hear and respond to God's call in these days, both locally and wider.
