Called to be … Teaching Series

Called to be …

Through Peter’s story we see a person whose passionate character is developed through different circumstances. From his calling as a follower to his call to others to follow, we see Peter’s response to Jesus.

This series was originally created for Candidates Sunday 2026, but the material can still be used and adapted when you are focussing on calling.

Below are some ideas on how to use the logo throughout the lead-up to Candidates Sunday. However, feel free to be creative and use as fits with your context.

Interactive Photo Opportunity

Photos: Ask people to hold the cut-out and complete the sentence (eg., Called to be… a peacemaker, kind, a leader, an officer, a friend).
Social media campaign: Encourage members to share their photos with a hashtag #CalledToBe to spread the message online.

Worship Space Integration

Prayer station: Place the cut-out logo near a prayer corner with pens and sticky notes for people to write what they feel called to be and stick them around the logo.
Visual sermon aid: Use the logo as a focal point during the sermon on vocation, adding words or images that represent different callings.

Children and Youth Engagement

Creative craft activity: Kids can decorate smaller versions of the logo and write their own ‘Called to be …’ statements.
TikTok or Instagram reel: Young people create short videos finishing the phrase ‘Called to be …’ with fun, creative visuals (eg acting out their calling, using props).

Community Connection

Public display: Put the logo in a visible spot outside the church and invite passers-by to add their own aspirations or callings.
Talking point: Put the logo out at a CAMEO group or coffee morning and use as a starting point for conversations.
