Harvest 2026: Janet's story

Janet (Mold) shares why Harvest matters to her and the impact The Salvation Army has had upon her life.

In north Wales, Harvest giving is helping Mold Salvation Army church and café offer more than coffee and a chat. For Janet, stepping in was just the beginning.

‘I walked through the door in 2024,’ she explains. ‘I’d lost my mother two years earlier, but that year I had just nobody, so I was feeling so, so low.

‘When I came in, I felt as if everybody had the time to sit down and talk and listen to what was wrong and help me through my dark, dark periods.’ 

Janet soon became a volunteer in the café and shop.

‘I have got lots of new, new friends who I adore,’ she smiles. ‘I now feel part of the shop team, and they also, of course, got the church family behind me.’

‘As you can see, we’re a big happy team up here,’ she says from the shop floor.

‘Now I’ve got the hope to carry on with my life,’ she continues, ‘and live each day as it comes.

‘Part of being with The Salvation Army is being there for other people that are going through what I’ve already been through. So I can say what I was like about two years ago and look at me now!’
