Minecraft inspires us to work and build together

With A Minecraft Movie out in cinemas, Monty and Maxwell remind us that life is better when we work and create with each other.

We went to watch A Minecraft Movie at the cinema and really enjoyed it. We also really like playing Minecraft. In the film, the main characters are Steve, Garbage Man, Natalie, Dawn and Henry. They go on an adventure that takes them to the Overworld – the place players start in the game – and the Nether – a dangerous, fiery dimension. On their journey, they meet villagers and Iron Golems, who are kind to them. There are also some bad characters, such as Creepers and Piglins. We enjoyed seeing all the things they created on the crafting table and all the adventures they had.

Some of the themes from the film and game help us to think about how we should live and work together.

In Minecraft, you can build what you like. You can choose Creative Mode, which allows you to access lots of different blocks and build anything. We know that God made us all different, and gave us different personalities, but we can all use the skills he has given us and be creative in our own ways. Some people are good at sports, some people are good at music, and some people are good at learning. We all just need to try our best to use our skills.

You can also choose Survival Mode. Sometimes it is difficult and that reminds us that sometimes our lives are difficult. There are things we can do that help us when things get tough. We can talk to God and ask him to help us with the things we find difficult. We can read our Bibles to learn about what God would do – we really enjoy reading our Minecraft Bibles!

Adventure Mode is another option in the game. It’s really hard, but you can create your own maps and quests. In the film, the characters are on a quest to get the Earth Crystal. All the characters need to work together to succeed. Our lives can be exciting like a quest, and it is more fun when we have adventures together – we can help each other as we have adventures and find out more about life.

If you are watching A Minecraft Movie, remember that God has made us all to be creative, that when life gets tough we can pray and learn from God, and that working together we can do great things.
