What might God do through a generation of young people empowered to lead, serve and influence the world for Christ?

The International Youth Congress 2027, themed Empowering a Generation, will bring together 2,500 young adults from across the globe for a life-changing week of worship, discipleship, learning and connection. Rooted in Ephesians 3:14–21, the congress will encourage participants to explore God’s calling on their lives, develop their leadership gifts, and deepen their faith alongside peers from every corner of the Salvation Army world.

Hosted in Jakarta, Indonesia, the congress will feature inspiring teaching and leadership from General Lyndon Buckingham and Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham, alongside international speakers, worship leaders and practitioners.

Each day will offer opportunities to grow spiritually, build friendships and discover new ways to live out your faith:

Morning sessions focused on worship, Bible study and discipleship.
Afternoon seminars and creative spaces covering a wide range of topics relevant to faith, leadership and mission.
Evening celebrations featuring vibrant worship, inspiring messages and themed events.
After-hours activities designed for fellowship, fun and connecting with others from around the world.

At the heart of the congress will be a global marketplace, where delegates can explore the diverse ministry and mission of The Salvation Army across every zone of the world. This interactive hub will include networking spaces, displays, information stands and opportunities to learn from one another's experiences.

The UK and Ireland Territory has been invited to send 23 young adults to this international gathering.

Applications are now open for those who will be aged 18–25 at the time of the congress and would benefit from this unique opportunity to participate in a global Salvation Army event and travel as part of the UK and Ireland delegation.

To be considered, applicants should:

Be aged 18–25 at the time of the congress.
Be regularly engaged in a Salvation Army worshipping community.
Be actively involved in mission and leadership, or demonstrate leadership potential.
Be able to communicate effectively in English.
Hold a valid passport and be able to obtain a visa for Indonesia.
Agree to sign and uphold the event code of conduct.

Following the application period, a panel will review all applications and make recommendations to territorial leadership regarding the allocation of the UK and Ireland Territory's 23 places.

Our aim is to create a delegation that reflects the diversity, passion and potential of young adults across the territory.

Delegates who are offered a place will be asked to raise between £500 and £1,000 towards the overall cost of attending the congress.
